The Kumbh Mela is a revered Hindu festival occurring every 12 years, rotating among four cities in India, including Allahabad (Prayagraj). This festival’s dates are based on the precise celestial alignments of the sun, moon, and Jupiter in the zodiac, making it a unique and spiritually significant event. The Kumbh Mela is renowned for the presence of sadhus (religious ascetics) who journey from remote regions such as forests, mountains, and caves to participate in the holy gatherings. This festival includes rituals such as bathing in sacred rivers, religious processions, and various ceremonies. Devotees immerse themselves in these sacred rivers, believing it will cleanse them of sins and aid in attaining moksha (liberation from the cycle of birth and rebirth).
